Following the official Launch ceremony in Kasongo on June 25, 2007,
the Community Distributors (CDs) in the initial 392 villages
targeted for treatment began the task of distributing Mectizan
to their fellow village residents, mostly by the household to household method.

Here a CD is measuring a young man to determine the number of Mectizan tablets he should receive.   CDs work in pairs, one determines the dose for the boy and eventally hands him the drug, while the other checks off his name and records all the information in the register.

Thanks to hundreds of CDs, all in white t-shirts, the first mass distribution of Mectizan in the Kasongo region was a great success.   Special thanks to Dr. Nondo, the Coordinator of CDTI Kasongo, for his leadership and dedication in ensuring a very successful Launch.
